Deep Freeze on Spending

deep freeze
Well January is nearly behind us.  It was actually unseasonably warm with a couple snow falls, so we were lucky this year.  This was the first month we started really taking stock of our finances.  We knocked a few things off our list and we feel like we are set up pretty well moving into February.  For next month, we have some defined goals to achieve but for now let’s see how we did.
We fell behind on bills through December so first task was getting everything caught up.  Done!
Our deep freeze broke down about a year ago and we didn’t get a chance to replace it.  Tough to save on groceries with a large family on weekly shops.  We really needed a deep freeze to take advantage of good sales and such, so we bought one.  We shopped around and looked up reviews for a couple models.  We ended up spending $352 for a 7.2 cubic foot Danby.  It should pay for itself in a few months, I will keep track and let you know the return on investment.  Done!
Paid Sirius for a 2 year term to save and eliminate the monthly charge.  Done!
Made a ton of phone calls to reduce monthly expenses.  Done!
Well, we didn’t pay down any of our debt but accomplished quite a bit for just getting started.
Next post will be about our February goals.
Looking to hear from you, leave comments, suggestions and thoughts.
Thanks
